HCC 613: User Interface Prototyping and Development (3 credits)

This course introduces students to the field of prototyping; an important part of the human-centered design process.  The course is practical in nature.  Students will gain experience conducting techniques which are typically used in a user experience environment.  These may include developing personas and scenarios, sketching, storyboarding, and developing video prototypes. Additional topics such as prototyping using low-tech materials and interactive mock-up tools will also be covered.  In addition, the course provides a basic introduction to technologies which can be used for designing interfaces (e.g. web and/or mobile development).  Familiarity with the theory and practice of these technologies will enable students to better understand, design, and evaluate the user experience.  Pre-requisites: Some knowledge of HTML/XHTML/HTML5 is required.
