HCC 741 Introduction to Assistive Technology and Accessibility Research (Credits: 3)

This is a graduate level course that will serve as an introduction to the field of assistive technology. Assistive Technologies empower many individuals to achieve things that they might not have been able to otherwise. This class will serve as an introduction to the design, development and evaluation of a range of assistive technologies and insight into the lives of people who depend on them. Through the course, students will learn about the impact of physical, cognitive, and sensory disabilities and aging.

Students will interact with the material through reading relevant literature, participating in group discussions, preparing and giving presentations, working with local AT and Accessibility experts and clinicians, and listening to guest speakers. Students will apply their knowledge in a research project where they will design, implement, and/or evaluate an assistive technology.
